My new Fitness Tracker is Finally Here! - Update

I ordered a Xiaomi AmazFit Fitness Tracker 2 weeks ago. I finally received it yesterday. The watch is fairly light and the screen is large and comfortable to look at.

Screensize of Amazfit is larger than the HPB tracker.

These are the features of this smartwatch:

I am liking it so far. The minor gripe which I have with the watch is SMS message notification is not working. This is a small issue as I don't really receive much SMS nowadays. Whatsapp and Facebook notifications do actually work. I could actually read the first message itself on the watch. If the next message arrives without dismissing the first message on the phone, the watch will only show "2 unread messages".I am using an Android phone so I am not sure how it works for iPhone. The second gripe that I have with the watch is even though it has a touchscreen function, there is a button at the side that I have to press if I want to operate the functions within the watch. I like the fact that it has an in-built GPS to keep track of the running path that I took. After my run, I could sync the running info back to my phone using the Amazfit app. My heart rate is also being monitored during the run.

Visibility is great with this watch when I was out running. The display is always on but would auto dim off. When I lift up my wrist, the screen would lit up again. One thing to take note is the screen is not super amoled HD like Samsung smartwatch which is a battery drain.

Another highlight of this fitness tracker is the longlasting battery life. From the feedback that I gathered online, it should last around 5 days with normal usage. My watch had around 77% of battery juice when I received it. It is around 58% today. I had a run yesterday with the GPS so it could deplete the battery more. 5 days sound about right. Charging also seems fast when I connect the watch to my laptop to transfer some watch faces. Did I mention there's tons of free watchfaces which could be downloaded off from the Internet?

I actually paid $158 SGD for this watch when I ordered online. It was only a week later that I discovered a cheaper alternative. You can actually get this watch cheaper from the link below. There's another Youth edition which has an Apple Watch design selling for $69.50. However, the language for this version is in Chinese only. These fitness trackers are very good alternative compared to the pricey smartwatches released by companies such as Samsung and Apple. Do check them out by clicking the watch picture below!

Update 3/9/2017 - SMS Messages alert is actually working. I just have to set Messaging to On with the Amazfit app. I could also receive notification from third party app such as Thinkorswim. The watch will also show the logo of the app. Amazing!

My Dividend Income for Aug 2017

Time to tabulate my dividends for Aug 2017. I am glad it's a good month.

Stock Portfolio (Cash)

My dividend income for Aug this year has improved over last year's results (based on XD). There's an increase of $851.04.

Screenshot from Stocks.Cafe

These are the companies that are distributing dividends to me in the upcoming month.

Croesus Retail Trust - $556.22
CSE Global - $250
Singapore Post - $25
Sembcorp Industries - $30
EC World REIT - $154
OUE Commercial REIT -  $165.60
OUE Hospitality Trust - $121
StarHill Global REIT - $106.20
Capitaland Retail China Trust - $34.2192
Singapore Telecommunications - $214

I have already sold off OUE Commercial REIT. Last round of dividend from this REIT. :(
Croesus Retail Trust has a high chance to be delisted. I have mixed feelings about this. Even though I would be missing the dividends, I don't really mind having some extra cash to go on stocks shopping spree when the opportunity arises. But enough about CRT. This Post is not about this REIT which I may cover next time.

Bond Portfolio (Cash Inv, Unit Trust)

In Aug, I received $944.04 of dividends in terms of more Units for my Unit Trust Bond Investment. This is a slight increase compared to last month of $939.67. I also did a fund switch again to buy more UOBAM United Asian High Yield Bond Dist Units. I would buy more again in the upcoming months. 4 more months left for me to hit $1k per month from my Bond Portfolio.

Total dividend income for Aug 2017 - $1966.24 + 944.04 = $2910.28

This is probably the highest amount of dividends I could achieve for 2017 as I continue to build up on my cash position. Thanks for reading!

US Stock Chart Patterns Automated Screener

For those who trade US Stocks, I have automated screening out stocks that have bullish and bearish patterns. These are the patterns screened: Multiple Tops, Multiple Bottoms, Channel Up and Channel Down. Do click on Charts to view the chart pattern formed. This is not a recommendation to buy or sell any of the stocks listed below. You will need to know how to trade these setups. Just because a stock is found under Bullish Pattern doesn't mean it is now the right time to buy. The stocks screened are trading above $10 per share. Only a maximum of 20 stocks per pattern is shown. Clicking on Charts would be able to view more stocks that formed the pattern.

Before buying any stock, it is useful to check out the overall performance of the sector the stock is in. If the sector is bullish, it would not be a good idea to go short on a stock that is in this sector. Sector performance could be found at this link.

Bullish Patterns

For Channel Up pattern, the stocks listed below are trading <10% of 52 Week Low.

Bearish Patterns

For Channel Down pattern, the stocks listed below are trading <10% of 52 Week High.

My Forex Trading Experiment - Week 2 Aug 2017

Week 2 Aug 2017

My Pepperstone demo account expired and I couldn't login anymore. The demo account is valid for only a month. I can recreate another account with Pepperstone but I would have to do it again the next month.

Fortunately, I have created a second demo account with another broker called Orbex before my Pepperstone account expired. I have a third account with another broker IC Markets where I traded the same strategy but on lower timeframes with tighter stoploss and target price.

Last week, my P/L for this account was $133.42. I closed 2 positive trades early before NFP results. My overall P/L is now $434.62. Profitable trades is 75%. Portfolio growth : 434.62/5000 x 100 = 8.69%. If based on the amount risked, Gain:434.62/600 = 72.44%

I have added an additional Acc Growth column for my Risk Reward Table. In my earlier Post, I discussed about Risk Management and used the Table to illustrate my point. Link here.

I am still within the yellow band of the table. Would be interesting to see which band I would end up in after 10 trades. Only 4 trades completed so far and 2 were closed prematurely.

For my IC Markets demo account, I am risking $50 per trade for the potential to make $100. Trade is mostly based on lower timeframe (15 min/1 hr) charts. Starting account size is also $5000. Risk is about 1% per trade. If the first few trades are losing trades, the subsequent trade risk would increase >1% as the remaining capital would be less than $5000. Each trade takes about 1 - 2 days to close so far.

My P/L for this account is $252.22. Profitable trades is 75%. Portfolio growth: 252.22/5000 x 100 = 5.04%. If based on the total amount that I risked, Gain: 252.22/200=126.11%

Unfortunately, both accounts do not factor in brokers' commissions. It is also too early to tell if the result is sustainable. More trade sample size has to be done for the "experiment" to be meaningful. My trade experiment has to survive the law of large numbers over a period of time. As of now I don't think 75% winning rate is achievable over a longer term.

SREITs Performance Aug 17 Week 2

SREITs ended on a low for last week. It was a sea of RED on Friday. Time to get out or opportunity to buy soon? You decide.

I Sold 3 More Stocks In 1 Day for Aug 2017

I sold 3 more stocks on 11 Aug 2017. Amid the political tensions between North Korea and US, I feel it's better to reduce my number of stock holdings and increase my cash position. This is also inline with my plan to cut down on my stock positions for the coming months. I am not doing a complete sell of all my stocks though. It is more of a locking in profit exercise as I feel the Market is likely to go down than up in the near term. I have also seen my paper gain turns to dust before and there's nothing wrong with taking some money off the table first.

I am still holding some Soildbuild Business Reit shares through CPF investments.
Soilbuild Business Reit Transaction

CapitaMall Trust Transaction

RHT Health Trust

Hopefully, I would be wrong and the Market would continue to go higher up.

My First Sale in Aug 2017 (Updated)

I finally sold off all my OUE Commercial REIT shares after holding it for 2 years.

DPU for 2Q 2017 has fallen quite a bit. I sold after XD and so I am also eligible for this last round of dividend from OUE Com.

The chairman of the Reit also sold off some shares 1 day before XD.

Screenshot from Spiking App

The current dividend yield for OUE Commercial is 6.75% and the share price as of 8th Aug 2017's closing price was $0.72. It is trading below the NAV of $0.86.

Wow! The dividend yield for this year is quite close to my forecast yield.

I will be looking to further trim my Reits portfolio and increase my cash position for the coming months. Stay tune for that!

Update - Cash is King. Holding Reits is Landlord. You can choose to be a King, a Lord or better still Both. ðŸ˜€ Forgot to add, Happy National Day, fellow Singaporeans! Huat ar!

Oops. Wrong song above.

My Forex Trading Experiment - Week 1 Aug 2017

Week 1 Aug 2017

My Pepperstone Demo account is still functioning. Closed 2 profitable open trades before NFP tonight.

Overall gain/loss on Pepperstone account  this week = $103.47, 1 loser and 2 winners
I opened an Orbex demo account in case Pepperstone demo account expires. Closed 2 profitable open trades before NFP tonight. This account does not show broker commissions. Gain should be lesser than $133.42 if include commissions. I will ignore commission fees for now.

The EURGBP losing trade could have been a winner but it hit my stop loss before going back up.

Overall Gain/Loss in both accounts for this week = $103.47 + $133.42 = $236.89

Lesson learnt - Some trades with lot size 0.15 are taking too many days for the trade to be over due to Stop Loss and Target Price too far from Execution Price. I may have to skip these trades next time.

Update: It was a right decision to lock in profits hours before Friday's NFP. USD strengthens against the currency pairs I was trading.

To be continued...
